August is National Family History month. This year Queensland Family History
Society is having an Open Day - Links in a Chain, on Saturday 12 August at
our library and resource centre, 58 Bellevue Avenue, Gaythorne. From 10 am
to 3 pm. To celebrate each day in August we also have an online event
happening. 31 Links in a Chain, 31 days, 31 stories, 31 links in a chain.
Each day in August a new story will be posted on our website www.qfhs.org.au.
Each story celebrates finding a missing family link, re-forging family links
and celebrating new family. A highlight from each story will go out via our
facebook page.
Family history is not just about the past it is about now, about recording
our family stories and Queensland towns, places and historic families and
events for future generations. Family is the link that connect us with the
past and the present. Recording our stories and history to preserve them for
the future, acknowledging our Queensland historic family, places and events
and the contribution they have made to us today.
