In September of 2016, 6 protestors climbed the fence of the Pine Gap Defence Facility near Alice Springs and set up a musical lament to protest the existence of the military base jointly run by the United States and Australia.
The Pine Gap 6 were protesting against the presence of the defence facility in Australia as it is a facilitator of the United States Drone Warfare Operations and the concept of war in general. Over the past year the group has been involved in a court case which over the last few weeks in Alice Springs found them all guilty.
4ZZZ News reporter Jack McDonnell spoke to Franz Dowling one of the 6 peace pilgrims about the last few weeks and whats next for the campaign.
