Minister Dismisses Abbott’s Challenge

Queensland’s Natural Resources Minister has shrugged off the Federal Opposition Leaders plan to override the state’s Wild River’s Legislation, labeling it a stunt.

Mr Abbott told the ABC this morning he would introduce a private member’s bill into Federal Parliament to overturn the law which prevents development on rivers, claiming it discriminates against the local Aboriginal people.

But Natural Resources Minister Stephen Robertson immediately dismissed the challenge, calling it an overreaction to a complex issue.
