The Kite String Tangle @ The Triffid

The Kite String Tangle are one of the biggest electronic bands to come out of QLD, and for good reason. The drizzle didn't stop punters from heading down to the Triffid in Brisbane to a sold out room to check out the electronic legend.

Opening the night was Brisbane local AUSTEN who graced the stage with a level of professionalism you don't usually see in an opening act. Red lights on the stage complimented her red hair as she bounced through her electronic pop tracks with ease, flanked by a a drummer padding away on an electronic kit. She played older tracks like Darkside and closed with a new one called Storm which cemented her as a serious one to watch.

Golden Vessel was up next bringing his sugary beats to the stage. Dressed in a yellow and black turtleneck I was truly envious of, and draped in yellow lighting, he played through his set accompanied by vocalist Connor. The noisy crowd didn't deter from his performance though, as he played through tracks like Less More and Right Side all whilst cueing a lightbox to add to the visual component of his performance. More than I expected from him, this was an excellent set.

The Kite String Tangle came to the stage around 10.30, with an excellent lighting rig and atmospheric synths guiding his enterance to the stage. The pillars at the back of the stage were draped in glittery fairy lights and his setup was flanked by smaller light pillars illuminating the stage in an etheral glow. Opening with Waiting, he played through his set with swift transistions between songs, which was kinda weird as it didn't give the audience a chance to clap, but instead provided an unadulterated electronic bliss that was ever lasting.

Tiana Khasi joined the stage to perform Stone Cold and he invited a trombonist and trumpeter to play This Thing We Got, which was funky and unexpected. Austen returned to help out with The Prize before closing with The Devil You Know. it wasn't over yet - the applause and anticipation for some bigger singles welcomed The Kite String Tangle back to the stage to perform Praise You and Arcadia before finally finishing for the night.

Despite the rain, The Kite String Tangle showd us why he is a force to be reckoned with in the electronic world. Not one too miss.
