Newman government's proposed surrogacy bans in breach of federal discriminatory laws
The Newman government recently announced proposed changes to the surrogacy act that would see single people, people in de-facto relationships for less than two years and same-sex couples banned from children through altruistic surrogacy, despite making a pre-election promise to leave the act untouched.
However Stephen Page of Harrington Family Lawyers said the proposed changes will be in direct contravention with the Federal Sex Discrimination Act.
Brisbane Line reporter Heath Warren spoke to Mr Page to discuss the details and potential implications of the contradictory legislation.
