QPS has ordered an injunction against the company to prevent them from texting car owners to call Police Minister Mark Ryan about disputed impoundment fees and the QPS is threatening drop tow.com.au.
The towing company alleges they are in debt for 10 million dollars and is demanding payment from the Queensland Police for their services.
Queensland to become leader in clean energy growth
The Palaszczuk government have unveiled plans to become the leader in clean energy growth by the year 2050.
Deputy Premier Jackie Trad says the government will endeavour to drive the state’s carbon emissions down to to zero under a plan to prepare for warmer climates.
Ms Trad says the plan will attract new investment and industries to Queensland and create sustainable jobs across the state.ANU employing sexual assault counsellor
Australian National University is set to employ a full-time specialist sexual assault counsellor on campus after the Human Rights Commission conducted a national survey of university assaults.
ANU has also been working behind the scene with a Canberra crisis centre and has had an officer based on campus five days per week to provide support.
ANU is expected to formally announce the new policy later today.
Cholera outbreak worsens in Yemen
The cholera outbreak in Yemen is continuing to spiral as the number of cases has reached a critical level.
Over three hundred thousand people have now been diagnosed with the disease, 7 seven thousand new cases every day.
Almost 2000 lives have been claimed by the disease which can kill within hours if left untreated.
No Clash in Islam and Being Australian According to New CurriculumAccording to school student Gaida Merei (Gah-ee-da Mer-her-aye), a new high school curriculum will help students understand there is no clash in being Australian and following Islam.
Merei took part in the pilot of a program that will be rolled out in Islamic and Arabic studies classes.
Experts are currently working towards a cohesive standardised national Islamic studies program in Australian schools, which would be the first of such a curriculum in the western world.
Mediations between Qatar and Saudi Arabia unsuccessful so far
Saudi Arabia’s pre-conditions for restoring peace in the form of economic and diplomatic relations with Qatar have been deemed not viable by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
Tillerson will be spending a week in the Gulf in order to assist the international efforts to mediate the situation between the two nations, as well as Egypt and the United Arab Emirates. Efforts to settle the dispute have so far failed.
