Quandamooka Truth Embassy
In February, 2017 the Truth Embassy was established as a last resort to preserve the cultural heritage of North Stradbroke Island’s Point Lookout and prevent the incoming infrastructure of a whale mall that would house the bones of one of the largest whale bones to wash up naturally on Stradbroke shores. 4ZZZ journalist Stephanie Felesina spoke with members of the local indigenous community Dale and Pekeri Ruska about the journey undertaken to transform North Stradbroke Island from a sand mining-based economy to a tourism based economy and the subsequent fight to preserve Stradbroke’s tangible and intangible sacred sights.
