UNICEF and Churches Council in Papua New Guinea partnering to reduce Children's violence

Sunday, June 22, 2025

Papua New Guinea is facing a challenging time with low vaccination rates, malnourishment, and high rates of family violence. It’s estimated four in five children experience violence at home, and half of children suffer from malnutrition.

UNICEF in Papua New Guinea has signed an agreement with the Papua New Guinea Council of Churches to mobilise churches to the front lines of change. In a country where 96% of the population identify as Christian, the churches will become critical to reduce violence and increase children’s health and welfare.
