To celebrate the release of their debut single, Taken By Wolves are playing a show at The Beetle Bar with supports by the most excellent thebeforeparty (8:30pm), Young Griffo (9:30pm) and Kolorsol (11:40pm) Band Tix are $6 and available on the door. Taken By Wolves hit the stage at 10:30pm. Taken By Wolves are the new kids on the block, I don't mean Donny, Joey and your girlfriends dream husband: Jordan. They are a new band in the Brisbane Music scene. Wielding straight up street level rock and having seen too many movies from the 70's, they synthesize a combination of raw, overdriven guitars, Kiss style guitar harmonies and Ennio Morricone melodies and tremolo's, crafting a soundtrack to their own their imaginary 70's grindhouse cinema. KOLORSOL create a truly eclectic mix of of upbeat stomping and soulful music. With dirty roots driven riffs to catchy melodic lines, KOLORSOL have been tearing through Brisbane's top venues and are now hitting the road with their debut self titled E.P. Young Griffo are an eclectic original rock band. Reviews have defined the band as "interesting mix of alternative rock and post punk sounds" with particular reference to a "roaring live" show. It is modern rock music written with a clear love of rock like Queens of Stone Age and Biffy Clyro, blended with the introspection of Death Cab For Cutie and a lyrical element that is intangibly and bitterly Australian.
