The Mouldy Lovers and Chocolate Strings: double album launch w/ Rivermouth and Moski Jo
The Mouldy Lovers are a wild, cacophonous, genre-bending crew featuring some of Brisbane’s finest musicians. Their music is like a curry made of ska, gypsy, punk, folk, reggae and various root vegetables. It’s fast and loud and raucous, bearing the message that there’s more to life than widescreen TVs and tailored suits. This is the kind of music that makes bankers quit their day jobs to join the circus. Few Australian bands can match the stage presence of this gypsy/ska juggernaut, and they WILL make you dance.
Since the release of their debut album, Yonder Ruckus, in 2013, The Mouldy Lovers have toured around much of Australia, performing at music festivals such as Darwin Festival, Queensland Music Festival and Island Vibe, as well as supporting some of the world’s finest folk/ska bands including Babylon Circus, The Perch Creek Family Jugband and The Crooked Fiddle Band.

A super food for every part of you goes by the name of Chocolate Strings. Grown in the boroughs of Brisbane, time has most definitely seasoned this crop into an out-and-out sensory feast. As a motley orchestra of 8, they possess the pulse of an afro beat with a score built on soul, funk and ragga-fied melodies.
They’re a meal you should not skip. If you’ve been blessed, you’ve seen, heard and felt their offerings before. Always the festival sweethearts, ‘The Strings’ (as they’re often called) have dished their cocoa chords at festivals such as Woodford Folk Festival, Karratha’s Red Earth Arts Festival, Peats Ridge Festival, The Dreaming, Island Vibe, Kuranda Roots, Rainbow Serpent Festival, Newtown Festival and Luminate.
