Although traits more so than talent are inherited through genetics, it’s fascinating how similar family members generations apart express themselves. Like his Grandfather, Liam Bryant began writing poetry when he was 12 years old in the school playground. Little did he know that 17 years later he would discover a collection of his Grandfather’s poems, put one to a piece of his music and name an album after it.
Accompanied by his trusty acoustic foot stomp box, Stompy and his foot tambourine, Tamby, Liam recorded his debut album,
The Pessimist & The Optimist at Airlock Studios in Samford Valley. The album was recorded and mixed by Yanto Browning (Art of Sleeping, Kate Miller-Heidke) and mastered by William Bowden (Gotye).
To complete the album, Liam also invited a very talented bunch of musicians, The Handsome Devils who each brought with them their instrument of choice (electric guitar, bass, keys and drums). Their contribution brought great power, dynamic and space to the album recording and has certainly given their live show a devilish amount of depth.
To launch the album, Liam Bryant & The Handsome Devils will be playing at The Foundry, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane on Saturday, 30 July 2016 supported by some equally handsome and talented friends,
Deena,
Gian and
Caskade.
Inspired by both classical guitar training and a love of progressive rock, Liam brings a new sound to the singer songwriter genre. With his catchy melodies and acoustic and classical guitar stylings it's impossible not to be serenaded and moved by his music.
"I think it is important as a songwriter to be writing songs that not only have a special meaning to youf, but can be interpreted numerous ways by others. Relating and connecting to something someone else has written, sung or has said is what being human is all about." - Liam Bryant
If you like beautiful music and people who are devilishly good looking then you won’t want to miss this show.
Saturday, 30 July 2016 – The Foundry – 228 Wickham Street – Fortitude Valley – $10 – 8pm
