And all in Bellingen… a beautiful town nestled between the mountains and the coast, straddling the Bellinger River, 20 minutes from Coffs Harbour. A region renowned for its beauty, it's connection with nature and a hive of cafes and artists. As such it is unsurprising that Bellingen had been the host to a wide range of festivals over the past 25 years. This festival will showcase so many different musical and entertainment, it could be most similar to long time festival lovers to the former Global Carnival.
A Convergence Festival, for the Bellinger River Snapping Turtle - featuring over 50 artists. Headlining with Mark Seymour (hunters & collectors) and the Undertow, Katie Noonan, Abby Dobson, The Crooked Fiddle Band, The Snowdroppers, Winterbourne, Woodes, Bears with Guns, Emily Wurramurra, Friday night beats sessions, and many many more will be featured. “when you are wandering throughout the festival, there will be interactive sculptures, workshops, great food, multiple side stages and a unique family zones”, says Festival Director Ben Perrim. “Turtlefest is about generating awareness through a festival platform, for the unprecedented sudden devastation of this little native turtle (now critically endangered) … and also donate a percentage of proceeds to various programs in support of this unique turtle species, only found in the Bellinger River (Myuchelys georgesi).”
You will see ‘George’ everywhere as we have adopted him/her as the mascot, so if you or your kids are into live music, friendly atmosphere, informative interactive workshops, and a host of festival activities then Bellingen will be the place to be. As well has having an environmental outcome for this species you can immerse into something special eclectic and memorable… there is something for everyone”.
