July Talk is a Canadian alternative rock band formed in 2012 in Toronto, Ontario. The band consists of singers Peter Dreimanis and Leah Fay, guitarist Ian Docherty, bassist Josh Warburton, and drummer Danny Miles.

With a reputation for explosive live shows, July Talk has found most of their following on the road. Since the release of their debut album, they have toured Canada, the United States, Europe, and Australia, and played numerous festivals.

The Black Creek Bandare rapidly emerging as one of South East Queensland’s finest blues-rock bands.

Since 2016 The Black Creek Band have put together a solid covers repertoire featuring artists such as ZZ Top, BB King, Dr Feelgood, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Joe Bonamassa and Omar and the Howlers.

They have now focused their efforts into The Black Creek Band’s collection of original material using the influence of previously mentioned artists as well as the Supersonic Blues Machine and the North Mississippi Allstars to name a few.

Their music is a mix of swampy blues-rock blended with modern blues and classic rock. These six songs have been well received and have just been released on their debut EP ‘Bad Attitude’.

Thomas Richard Bolin (August 1, 1951 – December 4, 1976) was an American guitarist who played with Zephyr (from 1969 to 1971), James Gang (from 1973 through 1974), and Deep Purple (from 1975 to 1976), in addition to maintaining a notable solo career. Much of his discography was either unreleased at the time of recording, or had gone out of print and was not released again until years after his death by drug overdose at age 25.

Embracing the future without losing sight of the past, OKA draws upon their indigenous connection to place and country to create their signature feel good Australian earth sound, an irresistible blend of influences spanning house, big beat, reggae-dub, Roots, Jazz and world music.

At the creative heart of the music is Stu Boga Fergie (aka DidgeriSTU) who connects you to earth with the deep subsonic pulse and resonance of his Yidaki (didgeridoo). He is the big man behind the electronic beats, keys & vocals inspired by his aboriginal heritage.

The OKA Collective includes captivating melody on guitar, sax, flute & woodwinds woven through organic juju beats of deep tribal fire. A sound & force that touches the heart & connects the soul.

Singer, songwriter and more... A  prolific songwriter, Jane Cameron brings a darker  approach to the ukulele than you might expect.  Jane blends folk, blues and jazz influences to create a sound that is as captivating as it is hard to categorise. Ranging from catchy pop  folk to dark moody blues, her songs are rich in narrative, building  characters and stories that are both familiar and fresh, humorous and heart-breaking.  

In August 2015, Jane and her band launched her debut album, The Mercy of the Tide which was mixed and produced by Tristen Bird of Hummingbird Studios.  The album features a wider palette of instrumentation courtesy of some extremely talented musicians - Julian Swinnerton (cello), Xani Kolac (violin), Ingrid Homburg (violin), Andrew McClean (harmonica), Matthew Alford (guitar), Nick Evangelou (slide & weissenborn), Chris Weber (trumpet) and Greg Steps (backing vocals).

Honest stories, memorable hooks, beautiful harmonies – this is what to expect from indie folk outfit The Tipsy Scholars (FKA The Gypsy Scholars) debut EP “Nowhere To Be”. Having already released the powerfully catchy single “Cold Hands”, the remaining four tracks shape a refined and matured sound for the Sydney and Canberra based band. Recorded at Rancom (Sydney) and Myall (Canberra) studios, engineers Ted Howard and Louis Montgomery have enabled the band to successfully translate their onstage energy and personality into a cohesive and musically rich body of work.

From the more brooding and delicate moments of Calculated Note and Andy Warhol, to the rip roaring energy of Run From The Rampage, the EP is a perfect balance of textural indulgence and blissful simplicity. The lead vocals of Conagh McMahon-Hogan and James Kelly blend seamlessly throughout all five songs, while the dynamic range and creativity of Joel Shapero (Bass) and Alec Brinsmead (Drums) provide a versatile rhythmic foundation for each tune.

To celebrate the release of Nowhere To Be the band will be embarking on their biggest tour yet with a massive 12 dates along the East Coast of the country. They are excited to announce they will also be touring the United Kingdom and Ireland. With festivals in Ireland, Scotland as well as headline shows across England, The Tipsy Scholars are keen to show off their musical wares to a brand new audience in what will be a tour to remember!

Manu Chao, (born June 21, 1961) is a French-born musician of Spanish origin. He sings in French, Spanish, English, Italian, Arabic, Catalan, Galician, Portuguese and occasionally in other languages. Chao began his musical career in Paris, busking and playing with groups such as Hot Pants and Los Carayos, which combined a variety of languages and musical styles. With friends and his brother Antoine Chao, he founded the band Mano Negra in 1987, achieving considerable success, particularly in Europe. He became a solo artist after its breakup in 1995, and since then tours regularly with his live band, Radio Bemba.

 

Icehouseare an Australian rock band, formed as Flowersin Sydney in 1977. Initially known in Australia for their pub rock style, they later achieved mainstream success playing new wave and synthpop music and attained Top 10 singles chart success locally and in both Europe and the U.S.[1] The mainstay of both Flowers and Icehouse has been Iva Davies (singer-songwriter, record producer, guitar, bass, keyboards, oboe)[2] supplying additional musicians as required. The name Icehouse, which was adopted in 1981, comes from an old, cold flat Davies lived in and the strange building across the road populated by itinerant people.

Today Iva Davies celbrates his birthday, being born 22nd May 1955.

The Smiths were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1982. The band consisted of vocalist Morrissey, guitarist Johnny Marr, bassist Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce. Critics have called them one of the most important bands to emerge from the British independent music scene of the 1980s. NME named the Smiths the "most influential band ever" in a 2002 poll. In 2003, four of the band's albums appeared on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Based on the songwriting partnership of Morrissey and Marr, the group signed to the independent record label Rough Trade Records, on which they released four studio albums: The Smiths (1984), Meat Is Murder (1985), The Queen Is Dead (1986) and Strangeways, Here We Come (1987).

Raucous indie surf rockers Caravãna Sun have today announced their infectious new single Beauty and The Pain, written to celebrate the good and the bad times within a relationship, set for release on May 25.  

They are hitting the road to play Beauty and The Pain for audiences across the country, kicking off at Clancy’s Fish Pub in Fremantle on May 25 then moving through Broome, Melbourne, Sydney, Sunshine Coast and wrapping up at Black Bear Lodge in Brisbane on June 8.

Caravãna Sun is Luke Carra (guitars, vocals), Ant Beard (bass, vocals), Alex Dumbrell (drums, percussion), and Ken Allars (trumpet, keys).

Tired Eyesare a brand new, bold four piece alternative rock outfit from Brisbane. The band is made up of Joey Keating (22 - guitar, vocals), Jesse Kampkes (23 - bass, vocals), Judah Kampkes (27 - keys) and Samuel Peacock (16 - drums). Drawing influence from the wide world of hard rock / post-hardcore as well as cinematic classical scoring and pop sounds, the band find themselves sitting in a very palatable, high energy, pretty but some-what aggressive middle ground of all of the above. The vulnerable and honest sound that the boys have created draw people in to an authentic musical space where they can experience new elements of alternative rock.

Lloyd Spiegel has released his 9th album, This Time Tomorrow. It’s a ten track piece that showcases Spiegel’s extraordinary talent. One of the most noticeable things about this record, and indeed much of Spiegel’s work is how impossibly clean and crisp the sound is. A hefty chunk of contemporary bluesfolk rely on rustic production to create something that sounds like authenticity. Spiegel however lets his fingers do the talking. The closest comparison is probably something like Santana’s or even Gary Moore’s solo work over the years.

The subject matter of many of the tracks seems to have been collected over jaunts through a bunch of US and European cities and towns and loves and losses and a revisiting of familiar spaces.

Spiegel is an artist who understands how to get a guitar to sing and cry and scream and kick like very few of his contemporaries can, and This Time Tomorrow is a nice little slice of what it sounds like when a guy like that takes a few years to let the inspiration build.

After five years together, Canberra indie-rock group Brother Bedecided to explore their sound further, shifting from upbeat party jams to brooding and epic rock. The first result of this shift is their latest single Nine Dollars.

The song sees frontman Michael Rhydderch entertaining those feelings of doubt that play in our everyday lives against a background of thumping rhythm section and massive wall of guitars. It will be officially released on 25 May 2018, with a launch party to follow at the Polish Club, Canberra, on 2 June 2018.

Courtney Melba Barnett (born 3 November 1987) is an Australian singer, songwriter and musician. Known for her witty, rambling lyrics and deadpan singing style, Barnett attracted attention with the release of her debut EP, I've Got A Friend Called Emily Ferris. International interest from the UK and North American music press came with the release of The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas in October 2013.

Barnett's debut album, Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit, was released in 2015 to widespread acclaim. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2015 she won four awards from eight nominations. She was nominated for Best New Artist at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards and for International Female Solo Artist at the 2016 Brit Awards.

In 2017 she released Lotta Sea Lice, a collaborative album with Kurt Vile.

On 15 February 2018, Barnett released the single "Nameless, Faceless" followed by "Need a Little Time" on 15 March 2018. The latest single ,"Sunday Roast" was released on 10 May 2018 along with an accompanying music video. Her latest album, Tell Me How You Really Feel was released on 18 May 2018.

Klaus Waldeck's musical career began in Vienna, Austria when he started piano lessons at the age of six. When he was fifteen his music life was put on hold when he destroyed a Bechstein piano while rewiring it.

Waldeck later attended law school. He finished law school and became a copyright lawyer. Then he heard about a case that changed his focus from law back to music. "It was during the time when George Harrison got sued for ripping off an old Motown tune," Waldeck recounts, "I realised the way forward was to work a melody until it didn't belong to anyone anymore." He eventually stopped focusing on law and concentrated on music.

Soon after deciding to leave law he moved to England. While in London, he met his vocal counterparts, former Incognito singer Joy Malcolm and Brian Amos, who worked on projects such as Pressure Drop.

In 1996, Waldeck returned to Vienna, Austria, and produced the Northern Lights EP, quickly gaining international attention through its biggest hit, Aquarius. A successful full-length album, Balance of The Force, followed in 1998. Later that year, Balance of the Force - Remixed was released.

Waldeck has produced many albums while still in Austria. Many of them are out of print and have become very scarce. The out of print albums include The Night Garden Reflowered, Balance of the Force, Balance of the force Remixed, Northern lights, and This Isn't Maybe.

In 2007, Waldeck released the successful Ballroom Stories on which he's featuring for the first time his new chief-chanteuse, the well known Austrian singer Zeebee (Eva Engel).

Andy Cowan is one of Australia's foremost performing songwriters. He possesses a voice that invites comparison with the likes of Tom Waites or Leonard Cohen, with the soul of Ray Charles. But these are superficial comparisons, Andy's virtuoso Piano and Keyboard playing contain both energy and melodic beauty. His songwriting and performing skills give him a strength and quality that define him as the complete artistic entity - the "King of the Keys" 

In the 70's and 80's he was a hired gun for legendary Australian bands, Madder Lake, Ayers Rock, Kevin Borich, Renee Geyer and Ian Moss to name but a few. Since 1998 Cowan has recorded seven CD's and filmed a live DVD at The Basement in Sydney and The Corner Hotel, Richmond, Victoria.

D.I.G. (Directions in Groove) is a multi award winning band from Sydney Australia.
Led by jazz guitarist and composer, Tim Rollinson  Dig emerged from  Sydney's happening club scene in the early 90's.

After playing in rock bands for several years, Cam and Ali Gibbs formed The Firedrakes in 2010. A chance introduction to Loreena McKennitt's music in the early 2000s led the duo to swap their electric guitars for a variety of Middle Eastern instruments. 

This musical change of direction has resulted in the album The Journey From Sapien Arts, a 10-song collection which explores the effects of war and injustice from different angles.  The CD was number 8 on Yesterday’s Hedgehog’s top ten albums for 2014.

Multi-talented British soul singer Connie Constancehas released her new single ‘Yesterday’ via AMF Records / Caroline Australia. Delving into personal, deeply honest spaces with refreshing fearlessness on last year’s Boring Connie EP, Connie Constance firmly cemented her place as one of the most exciting artists to watch in 2018 and won herself fans at Noisey, NME, Observer, Wonderland and The Times. Now she’s back with ‘Yesterday’, a continuation of Connie’s distinct sound.

Born Constance Power, Connie Constance grew up in Watford listening to The Smiths, the Stone Roses and Arctic Monkeys, and as a result the 23-year-old artist stands out from her peers, making indie rock-influenced, off-kilter soul with poetic narratives.

Australia’s leading reggae and dancehall producer and accomplished pianist, Mista Savona (aka Jake Savona), has gathered some of Cuba and Jamaica’s most influential musicians in the one recording studio to create a world first album.

Despite their huge respective global appeal and geographical proximity, there has never been a full-length album that unites the unique sounds of both Jamaican and Cuban music.  This is a truly groundbreaking record and project that honors both islands’ incredible musical foundations and legacies while inspiring and creating something entirely new. Drawing from the styles the islands are best known for – roots reggae, dub and dancehall on one hand and son, salsa, rumba and Afro-Cuban on the other – ‘Havana Meets Kingston’ sees an incredible team of musicians come together to bend and twist genres effortlessly, and the results are exceptional.

Savona’s main intention is to bring Jamaican sound system and bass culture together with Cuba’s electrifying and virtuosic Afro-Cuban and jazz traditions, and this is where the album excels and is unique in musical history. Energetic and passionate vocals in Spanish, English and Jamaican patois twist and turn over the distinctly Cuban rhythms and melodies, while the deep basslines that Jamaica is best known for pulse underneath, unifying the music of both cultures and creating something fresh, bold and exciting.

Over two years in the making, HAVANA MEETS KINGSTON will be released in two parts – Album #1 on November 3rd 2017, with album #2 and a feature documentary following in 2018.
