Jim Ottaway

Jim Ottaway is an international award-winning Australian composer and musician recording original electronic instrumental music covering many genres including electronic, ambient, space music, new age, and music for film and television.

Jim’s major musical influences include Tangerine Dream, Vangelis and Pink Floyd. The inspiration for Jim’s music stems from his love of nature and his spiritual connection to the beautiful environment of the Gold Coast hinterland, where he composes and records.

Since 2004 Jim has released over 30 independent albums… commencing with his first release... FIRST LIGHT, a light relaxing ambient album and culminating in his new high-powered electronic release... SOMEWHERE IN-BETWEEN, officially released in June 2022.

Three of Jim's albums have been awarded Zone Music Reporter Awards in New Orleans, USA. At the 17th annual awards (2020), Jim was awarded Best Electronic Album and at the 14th annual awards (2017) TIMELESS e-MOTION he was awarded Best Electronic Album and DEEP SPACE BLUE was awarded Best Ambient Album. Both WHEN ETERNITY TOUCHES TIME and DEEP SPACE BLUE were also nominated for Album of the Year in the respective years.
